Rise and Blind: The sun still shines at 37,999...
It’s morning in South America, and we’ve just finished eating our decent in-flight breakfast of strawberry yogurt with banana bread. It was actually pretty good! It’s roughly 10:30am local time (that’s 4:30am Pacific), and we’re due to land in 36 minutes. Travel into Argentina has been smooth sailing so far. The first leg of our flight, through D.C., seemed to take forever but this second leg to...

Cars, trains, and aeroplanos
Well, this is officially post #1 since I left home for my big trip to kick off 2008. I’m currently on my way to SFO, and off to South America… Last night, I finished packing, etc. around 1:45am, and I was able to make it onto BART in the nick of time (with a bit of running). To the extent that we’ve got an internet connection, I will keep you updated on my travels in Buenos...

Dreaming of low VOC paint
I am surprised by how long painting actually takes, once you factor in taping, edging, touch up, error correction, and clean-up! With all these vapors, my insides are also getting a new paint job! (I kid.) But it’s definitely worth the effort. I’ll have new pics posted soon-likely tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Happy Martin Luther King Day!

Sony posts $245MM Loss; CEO applies for TARP funds... →
Sony should jump on the rescue bandwagon and start a technology sector bailout! After all, if financial institutions and auto makers can get a piece of the pie, why not electronics manufacturers - especially the one who brought us the Walkman?? (Yes, I am joking.) But I wonder: how far will we go to support the economy, and what will the longer-term effects of the bailout be?

YouTube Comes To TVs Through Sony PS3, Nintendo... →
This will rock as long as a) you can watch high quality YouTube vids this way, b) it’s not laggy, and c) it’s as easy to find and play content as it is on the computer. Once I put my place back together (after painting), I’ll be trying this out!

My own personal elephant
For weeks, I have complained that I haven’t been working on my business plan. Now, I’m in the middle of painting and upgrading my condo. At the end of the day, I’m pretty burnt-mainly from work, but also from the constant feeling that there’s more housework to be done (don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for the upgrade)! The question I have to ask myself is: Have...

Wells Fargo & Company - Google Finance →
So sad… My 401k is plummeting. Speculation that we’ll need cash and a dividend cut don’t help. However, we’ve been strong through the downturn, and we continue to outperform other banks - so we’ll see how this all turns out!

Blockbuster to offer movies on mobile devices  →
Blockbuster vs. Netflix - it’s been an ongoing battle since Netflix entered the movie rental arena. I have felt like Netflix has always had a techier edge, whereas Blockbuster had the brick & mortar, the coupons for free rentals, etc. Finally, the behemoth Blockbuster has announced an upgrade!

Home Improvement (Argh argh argh)
This weekend marks my first real “work” in cleaning up my place. For those who are unaware, I am trying to refinance my mortgage loan, but the appraisal of my condo came back extremely low, making it virtually impossible to strike a deal with the bank. In response, I am taking some steps to modernize my place. Tangentially, my roommate is on his way out - 1/15 is his last day in my...
